To celebrate the abundance of North West Pears at their peak season in US and now worldwide, World Pear Day is celebrated on the 8th of December each year. 2019 was the fourth year in a row.
Beginning in New Zealand and moving west across the globe, consumers were able to taste a variety of USA Pears via pop-up sampling events in more than 24 countries including Taiwan, India, United Arab Emirates and Mexico for 24 hours of continuous sampling and promotion.
We were few of those lucky souls to sample one of the most well curated celebration of Pears at India’s Number 1 restaurant Indian Accent. Thanks to FBAI – Sameer Malkani and Saloni Mirchandani Malkani for inviting us in association with USA Pears for this amazing experience.
What happens , when everything superlative comes together at the same place and time ? It creates a blast, indeed. Similarly, when Chef Manish Mehrotra a stalwart and USA Pears joined hands to create this wonderful menu, everyone was floored.
Starting with the Pear Shikanji to Pear and Burrata Salad and the USA Pear churan Kulfi sorbet to the most beautiful Pear Petha in Rice Kheer, it was just mesmerizing. In addition to the above mentioned dishes we also enjoyed the best of Chefs menu which included Pork Ribs in Meetha Achar,Chilli crab/ Dal Vada in Sago Pongal and even more.
A special mention for something which has always been close to Dilliwalas hearts, Chhole Bhature. Yes, you read it right ..Kudos to the Chef for creating this wonderful dish in a one bite rendition.
All in all it was an amazingly well spent afternoon in company of good friends and of course the pride of India Chef Manish Mehrotra
