India Bistro is the culinary venture of Foodlink Restaurants Pvt. Ltd., the passionate dream of Sanjay Vazirani, an alumnus of the prestigious Cornell Nayang Institute of Hospitality Management, Singapore. His grand vision is to create exceptional global dining experiences in a contemporary ambience with exemplary customer service, all at value for money. The journey began in 2012 with a standalone restaurant, and in a span of just 3 years they now successfully deliver exceptional dining experiences across 7 restaurants designed in 4 distinct restaurant formats.
We had a great time amongst other Food Connoisseurs who were present at the launch of this beautiful place which was “Amreli” in its old avatar. Housed in Hotel Diplomat, the ambiance and the surroundings are lush green and the interiors are done in the most sophisticated and elegant manner. The Menu proudly represents a contemporary India without being bogged down by too much of the traditional. The innovation is not restricted to just food. The talented bartenders have conjured exotic cocktails and mocktails to go along with the exotic meal. Kala Khatta Mojito, Irani Mojito, Patiyala Lemonade, Vodka Guppa , Turmeric Martini and a wide variety of drinks tastefully complement the dining experience.
The complementary Golgappa shots served in a big syringe are nice but too much done and dusted for the Delhi market. The Snowy Bhalla Chaat was nice and creamy with the melodrama of liquid nitrogen making it chilled and frozen. The kebabs were amazing and I really loved the Galouti and the Beetroot kebabs. The most intriguing for me was the “Muradabadi Dal Chaat” though. It was like a khichdi with simple yet yummy flavors. Not to forget the Palak Patta chaat which was again a nice take on a simple dish.
The main course had a wide variety of dishes both veg as well as Non veg.The railway mutton curry goes back to the British era when privileged the British people were served this mutton dish on trains. The dish was simple and just ok. It was nothing over the top.The Pao Bhaji Fondue was a unique take on the humble street food of Mumbai. The biryani was nice and more like a pulao than a biryani.
Overall a nice and elegant place for a romantic dinner with the beloved over good drinks and nice food. The AL fresco area is plush green and one can enjoy the Delhi winters to the fullest.
